Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons Riverboat Tea Original Black Tea Grounds
  • 4 cups fresh filtered water
  • Ice cubes
  • Lemon slices (optional)
  • Fresh mint sprigs (optional)
  • Simple syrup or honey (optional)

Brewing Instructions

  1. Brew: Use a coffee maker or heat 4 cups of fresh filtered water to 200-212°F (full boil).
  2. Steep: Add 2 tablespoons of Original Black Tea Grounds and steep for 3-5 minutes (if not brewed in coffee maker).
  3. Strain and cool: Remove tea grounds and let tea cool to room temperature (about 30 minutes).
  4. Chill: Refrigerate for at least 2 hours until cold.
  5. Serve: Pour over ice with optional lemon and mint.

Pro Brewing Tips

Cold brewing produces a smoother, less bitter iced tea with naturally sweet notes—perfect if you prefer unsweetened tea. The hot brew method is faster but may taste slightly more astringent. Never pour hot tea directly over ice as it can create a cloudy, bitter brew. Always let it cool first for the best flavor and clarity.

Sweetening & Flavor Variations

Classic Sweet Tea: Add 1/4 cup simple syrup while tea is still warm, then chill.
Lemon Iced Tea: Add fresh lemon juice and lemon slices for bright citrus notes.
Mint Iced Tea: Muddle fresh mint leaves in the pitcher before adding tea.
Peach Iced Tea: Add sliced fresh peaches while tea chills for natural fruit flavor.

Perfect Pairings

This classic iced black tea pairs beautifully with summer salads, sandwiches, grilled chicken, BBQ, seafood, or light desserts. It's the perfect refreshing beverage for picnics, cookouts, kickbakcs, pool parties, or everyday hydration. Serve at brunch, lunch, or dinner as a sophisticated alternative to soda.

Health Benefits

Iced black tea provides the same antioxidants and health benefits as hot tea, including support for heart health, mental alertness, and hydration. With minimal calories when unsweetened, it's a healthy alternative to sugary drinks while still providing a moderate caffeine boost (about 40-70mg per serving).
